2001 Chicago Auto Show

While Kia says this is a concept released to test consumer reaction to its sports-luxury theme, we have heard it may actually arrive in dealerships in June 2002 as a 2003 model. Underhood is a 2.7-liter/181-horse V-6, a modified version of Optima's current 2.5-liter/170-hp optional engine. This high-content model will top off the Optima's current lineup with wide variety of upscale features, including sport-tuned independent suspension, front and rear anti-roll bars, rack-and-pinion steering, P215/55R16 tires on chrome-alloy wheels, special paint, in-dash CD-changer, and black leather heated seats. Pricing is rumored to be north of $21,000.
