2001 Detroit Auto Show

DaimlerChrysler unveiled its concept interpretation of the classic "pure American" Jeep Willys by driving it out onto stage by a group on safari. Constructed of a one-piece carbon-fiber body with an aluminum frame and injection molded seats, the Willys concept is powered by a supercharged 1.6-liter inline four-cylinder engine with 160 horsepower, mated to four-speed transmission and a full-time four-wheel drive system.
