2001 Detroit Auto Show

Like the original Z car, Nissan's new Z is an intimate two-seater with a true hatchback body; beyond that, the design is completely revolutionary. Powered by a 3.5-liter V-6 producing more than 260 horsepower, and either a six-speed manual or five-speed auto, Nissan promises 0-60 mph in less than 6 seconds and a target price below $30,000. Nissan's new Z is scheduled to go on sale in mid-2002 as a 2003 model, along with a convertible version.
