Honda gives consumers a late look at the second-generation CR-V, scheduled to go on sale November 15. Despite its conservative, evolutionary appearance, the CR-V emerges for 2002 with a new chassis, body, engine, and interior that improve upon the original with more refinement, performance, and safety technology. The 2002 CR-V is powered by an all-new DOHC 2.4-liter four-cylinder i-VTEC engine that produces 160-horsepower, marking an increase of 10 percent more horsepower over the 2001 model. A modest increase in interior space coupled with more seating flexibility increases both comfort and function. The dash features the most dramatic style change, with new, more ergonomic controls, and cleverly integrated parking brake lever. Both price and standard equipment levels rise for the new model year.
