The Signum2 is a descendant of the Signum prototype first seen at the 1997 Geneva Motor Show, and it appears Opel designers have achieved their directive to achieve good looks, comfort, convenience, and versatility in this four-door concept update. Swiveling seats and a moveable steering wheel make front-seat entry easier; while a movable box storage system and flexible seating arrangement converts the car to a two-seater with ample rear storage. Signum2 is powered by a prototype eight-cylinder direct-injection GM XV8 300-hp/4.3-liter aluminum engine developed by GM Powertrain in the United States. While the Signum2 is pure concept, it "hints at ideas and styling cues that will be seen on future Opel models," says Carl-Peter Forster, chairman and managing director of Adam Opel AG.
