BMW's lightweight high-performance concept car is big news because it's lost big weight: 440 pounds less, in fact, than a standard M3. This serious weight-loss program features a carbon-fiber front air dam, mirror housing, and roof, doors, and trunk, as well as racing-style bucket seats and a carbon-fiber reinforced plastic console to reduce weight within the cabin. The standard straight-six M3 has been tuned to boost maximum power to 350 hp, and is shifted via BMW's Sequential Manual Gearbox (SMG) with Formula One gearshift technology. All this power is stopped by 19-inch wheels wearing massive track-ready brakes. Results? A lap at Nurburgring's northern circuit in less than 8 minutes, 30 seconds faster than its production sibling.
