2001 Los Angeles Auto Show
Combining the driving characteristics and passenger comforts of a sport sedan with the packaging versatility of an SUV, the "Geo-Mechanical" SSS strikes at the burgeoning crossover market. The concept is built on a new front-drive platform powered by Mitsubishi's 3.5-liter SOHC V-6. However, the design is flexible enough to accommodate a full-time all-wheel-drive system with viscous coupling. The SSS offers a glimpse at the new products the company is planning to build at its Normal, Illinois, facility starting in 2003.
