Building on its growing World Rally reputation, Mitsubishi cooked up the CZ3 concept as a rally-inspired counterpart to the CZ2, a model destined for the Japan market in 2002. Sharing the basic platform with the CZ2, the CZ3 turned to the Lancer Evolution VII for the all-wheel-drive system featuring active center differential and active yaw control. Motivation comes from a 1.5-liter intercooled, turbocharged engine matched to a continually variable transmission. The motorsports theme translates to the interior, where race-style buckets provide seating for four amid a stark, aluminum-intensive environment. Intended to be an enhanced city car, the CZ3 uses a center-dash monitor for its infotainment display, including nav system and DVD player.
