Chevrolet will expand its range to compete in the entry-level market with the Aveo in fall 2003, competing against the Hyundai Accent, Kia Rio, and Toyota Echo. The Aveo is the first fruit from the General Motors acquisition of Daewoo's automotive arm to be integrated into a GM brand product line. The South Korean-built car was penned by Italdesign, and it will be offered in four-door and five-door configurations. Power for the thrifty machines comes from a 1.6-liter inline four producing 105 horsepower. Already on sale in Korea, the Aveo will be in the $9500-$13,000 range when it goes on sale in the States.
