Celebrating the Rabbit-based hot hatch that fueled a sport compact phenomenom, Volkswagen will build 4000 commemorative 20th Anniversary Edition GTIs, each featuring a 1.8-liter/180-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine matched with a six-speed manual transmission. The chassis is fortified with a lowered, sport-tuned suspension, 18-inch wheels wearing Z-rated rubber, and four-wheel disc brakes with distinct red calipers. Exterior aero enhancements and special red badging further distinguish this special model. Inside, this GTI features Recaro bucket seats with embroidered logos, striped seatbelts, "golf ball" shift knob, perforated leather and aluminum trim, and a production number plaque. The 20th Anniversary car goes on sale in the spring for $23,225.
