2003 Frankfurt Motor Show Coverage


Destined to replace the three-time World Rally Champion Peugeot 206 WRC, the 307 WRC made its debut in Frankfurt. It features a different engine than the 206 WRC, using a 1.8-liter powerplant shared with the production 406. However, in race trim, this engine has been increased to 2.0 liters with 320 horsepower. Numerous other enhancements were made throughout the car, including the transmission, suspension, structure, and roof -- no longer a retractable unit in race trim. Launch date depends on readiness to fulfill the mission of winning races and ultimately selling production cars. Look for the 307 WRC coming to a video game near you.
