Built by Acura to compete in the NHRA All-Motor Class, the skunk2 pushes the class rules to the limits without incurring a weight penalty. Powered by an alcohol-injected 2.4-liter DOHC VTEC engine on a K24 block with K20 cylinder head package, it also benefits from custom ultralight roller rocker arms, Skunk2 camgears, camshafts, and valve springs, Cunningham rods, custom pistons, lightweight custom flywheel and carbon-carbon clutch, as well as Skunk2 custom header and intake manifold. The RSX unibody has been integrated with a strong but light chromoly tube frame, multi-link rear suspension, and Skunk2 racing shocks with titanium springs. The super flat black paint job matches the Goodyear tires quite nicely, making the car look deceivingly unassuming.
