Volkswagen adds a third minivan to its European lineup as the Touran joins the Sharan and Multivan this month. Seating five or seven passengers, the Touran exudes versatility with reconfigurable seats that flip, fold, slide, turn, and remove as needed. The optional rear seat fold flat into the load floor when not needed. Three is the magic number for trim lines and engines, with thrifty 1.6, 1.9 diesel, and 2.0 diesel powerplants. Each engine will be available with a six-speed Tiptronic transmission. In additional to front, side, and head airbags, the Touran counts among its safety features electronic stability program (ESP) and brake assist.
