While the heavily publicized-in-advance Giuguaro Moray drew a bigger crowd for its Day 1 premiere (and struck many observers, as just a bit over the top), the Bertone Birusa concept car was much better received on Day 2. Dominated by the wing-like doors, the wedge-shaped design bristled with high tech components, hallmarks of recent Bertone efforts. This included voice controls for the doors and sunroof, a Bose-designed Dolby Surround multimedia system, semi-adaptive headlights, and infrared night vision. The rear 'boot' contained a combination drawer/ramp from which a Segway personal transporter could roll out. Of all this year's high-profile efforts of the Italian design houses, the Birusa was arguably the best realized.
