The Opel Signum, built off of GM's flexible Epislon platform, is a segment buster, with its long wheelbase and stretched body-style offering maximum interior flexibility and high individual passenger comfort, especially in the rear. The new Signum is being offered with four ECOTEC gasoline and three ECOTEC diesel engines offering from 100 to 211 horsepower. The most noteworthy of the available engines is Opel's first gasoline direct-injection engine, a 155-horsepower unit that offers 10 percent more low-end torque while burning six percent less fuel. Look for the Signum's proportions and powertrains to influence future domestic GM products.
