Word that Cadillac was cramming a V-12 engine in its Escalade luxo 'ute could not go unanswered for long... The Ford Performance Group fit the 385-horsepower supercharged Lightning engine into a special Navigator for the New York auto show to gauge reaction and prepare the market for a potential thunderous SUV flagship. The name draws from a performance car, Model K, introduced in 1931 that rejuvenated Lincoln. The Navigator K has a sinister appearance, thanks to a two-tone black finish, 20-inch chrome wheels, and painted grille. The interior is dressed in a rich, luxurious red seen on some dash surfaces, steering wheel, and leather seats accented with black piping. Satin nickel and wood grain trim further contribute to the upscale interior that appears ready-made for a limited edition model.
