Lexus explored the space between the RX 300 and GX 470 in its lineup with the HPX, a concept vehicle aimed squarely at the Infiniti FX45. Based on the lauded GS sedan rear-drive platform, the High Performance Crossover (HPX) put the 4.3-liter/300-horsepower V-8 and five-speed automatic transmission in an all-wheel-drive application. The chassis touts a height-adjustable suspension to address diverse highway speed and light-duty off-roading chores, though the emphasis is clearly on pavement dynamics. The simple-appearing interior allows the driver to customize displays, configuring size, position, and color. Seating is offered in three rows, with the rear child-sized bench folding flush to the cargo floor when not needed.
