Lincoln-Mercury's first compact SUV is targeted to attract 30-something, diverse buyers to the company's SUV lineup. Refined design touches include satin aluminum waterfall grille, unique taillamps, and distinctive front and rear fascia outside, and elegant wood grain, chrome, and satin-aluminum accents inside. Three series offerings are available: Convenience Array, which includes Duratec 2.3-liter/153-hp I-4 engine; Luxury Array, with the Duratec 3.0-liter/200-hp V-6 engine; and the Premier Array, which builds from the Luxury model and adds premium leather seating and driver's lumbar support as well as heated driver and passenger seating. Additional features include keyless entry, optional 17-inch cast-aluminum wheels, standard anti-lock brakes with braking assist, as well as a variety of safety systems. Mariner is available in both front- and four-wheel-drive versions, and V-6 models can tow up to 3500 pounds, when properly equipped. The 2005 Mercury Mariner will be produced at the Avon Lake, Ohio, assembly plant.
