2004 Detroit Auto Show

Making its American debut, Honda's long, low, and wide sport wagon concept tries to balance the complexity of hydrogen fuel cell technology with a simple (even primitive) aesthetic interior and exterior style. While Kiwami's outside surfaces are boxed and flat, inside designs try to be relaxing with only a few smooth accents. Advanced packaging technology that make possible the lower floor ensures a roomy interior despite the vehicle's low roofline. The interior design reflects the Japanese sense of a luxurious, relaxing atmosphere, harmoniously blending advanced features such as an exterior information display and panel-touch shifting with a traditional Japanese sensibility for the ultimate in comfort and hospitality. On the technical side, an H-shaped layout for the control unit, ultracapacitor, fuel cell stack, hydrogen storage unit, and other components give the Kiwami a low center of gravity, lower overall vehicle height, and a spacious interior, along with stable synchronized-control 4WD handling performance.
