2004 Detroit Auto Show

Fans of Chrysler's beloved PT Cruiser can finally delight in a topless version, with production scheduled to begin in Spring 2004. Buyers will be able to choose from three levels of performance, beginning with the standard 2.4-liter/150-hp engine paired with manual tranny, at a suggested retail price beginning at $19,995. Next step up is the Touring model, which features the standard 150-hp engine with a manual transaxle or an optional 2.4-liter/180-hp turbocharged engine with automatic transaxle. Features include with 16-inch painted cast aluminum wheels, speed control, security alarm, fog lights, floor mats, and an AM/FM stereo with CD player, all for $22,900. Finally, the GT model includes a standard High Output 220-horsepower turbocharged engine with a five-speed Getrag manual transaxle, plus all of the Touring model standard equipment and a list of additional features including performance-tuned suspension with ABS four-wheel disc brakes, 17-inch cast aluminum wheels, leather seats, and more, for $27,565. (All model pricing excludes $590 destination fee.) With all this info, there's only one question left to ask: "Will the Britax fit in that backseat?"
