Nissan gives its Altima an assortment of styling refinements for the 2005 model year that include a five-horsepower boost, as well as much-needed upgrades to the interior design and materials. Addressing criticisms, interior improvements include new instrument cluster and center console design, three-spoke steering wheel, trim finishes with added chrome accents and revised seat and headliner materials in three color "environments" (Charcoal, Blond, and Frost) that add an elegant look and feel. For easier use, HVAC and audio controls are now grouped together in a simple unit and for the first time, Altima offers an available DVD-based navigation system. Also large cup holders are big enough to hold up to a standard size one-liter bottle. The new Altima is scheduled to go on sale at Nissan dealers nationwide in mid-February 2004.
