2004 Geneva Motor Show
Hyundai's latest concept emerges from the European Design Center in Germany designed from the inside out as a "way of evaluating and preparing to answer the demands and needs of customers who will be seeking more comfort...and less stress in future motoring." The medium-sized C-segment E Cubed concept car can seat four adults comfortably with multiple seating configurations and a spacious "walkthrough" front area accessible via doors that open a full 90 degrees. A VDO-designed instrument panel replaces conventional dials and gauges with a multi-function speedometer and a retractable center console featuring an LCD information screen. In back, an electrically operated bicycle carrier is integrated into the rear license plate mountings. Power is provided to this running concept by a modified version of Hyundai's 1.8-liter/137-hp gasoline engine. The 163-inch family car is not based on any current Hyundai platform, though its MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspensions are similar to current production models.
