The production version of the Murciélago Roadster kept the Lamborghini booth packed for days after the cover came off on Wednesday. Expected to reach worldwide markets in the second half of this year, it continues the long tradition of Raging bull roadsters that started with the 350 GTS almost 40 years ago. Believe it or not, Lamborghini stresses safety in the design brief for the Murciélago as the front and lateral glass components have been designed like a crash helmet visor to best integrate with the vehicle. Powered by a 580-horsepower V-12 with a six-speed mated to permanent all-wheel-drive, the Murciélago epitomizes the masculine style for which Lamborghini is justifiably famous. Lamborghini suggests that, after removing the roof, speeds should be kept under 99mph; depending on its aerodynamic configuration with the top up, the Murciélago's top speed is "circa" 198 mph.
