2004 Geneva Motor Show

Long absent from the US market, Peugeot is a major player in markets outside North America and has always been a leader in the station wagon category. In Geneva, they took the wraps off the new 407 SW, a large station wagon aimed at active families with lots of gear to transport. The 407 SW, which features an ample glass roof, engulfs the passenger compartment and its five occupants with light. Manufactured from tinted laminated glass about 0.25-inch thick, the innovative roof can be completely or partially darkened (nine positions), by means of four electrically controlled overlapping panels which fold away discreetly at the rear of the roof. The 407 SW range includes sedan and coupe models, and five engines: 1.8-liter, 2.0-liter, and 2.2-liter gas engines, and a pair of diesels displacing 1.6- and 2.0-liters, as well as a choice between manual or automatic transmissions.
