2004 Geneva Motor Show

Seat, part of the Audi Brand Group at Volkswagen, used Geneva to unveil the production version of the Golf-sized Altea, first shown in prototype form at last year's Frankfurt show. Looking a bit like a cross between the Ford Focus five-door and a Lexus RX330, especially around the C/D-pillar, the Altea is an MSV (Multi Sports Vehicle), featuring several innovations, including FSI technology, dual-clutch DSG gearbox, engines delivering more than 100-horsepower output, newly designed front suspension, multi-link rear axle, new electro-mechanical steering gear, and an exclusive SEAT Altea element -- wind-screen wiper blades camouflaged the windscreen's side pillars (A-pillar). There are four engines in the Altea range, two gas and two diesel. The gas engine choices include the 150-horsepower 2.0-liter FSI and the 102-horsepower 1.6-liter. The diesel range features the 140-horsepower 2.0-liter TDI and the 105-horsepower 1.9-liter TDI versions.
