2004 Geneva Motor Show

It's been four years since it was first launched, and that means the Mercedes-Benz C-Class is due for a major refreshing. A more dynamic appearance is created by the redesigned front bumper and radiator grille. A new paint process promises an even longer-lasting shine using nano-particle technology. Handling is enhanced with the Direct Control package that provides more agile cornering with no loss of comfort, a more direct steering ratio, and reconfigured standard and sports suspension systems. The new six-speed manual transmission is now easier to operate, more precise, and has a shorter shift travel. With a wide variety of engine/transmission combinations available, the versatile C-Class attempts to cover every base in the near-luxury category which is now flagshipped by the C 55 AMG, powered for the first time by a V-8. With 270 horsepower on tap, M3 owners will no longer be able to run off and hide at the sight of a C-Class in its rearview mirror. New levels of premium sound invade the cockpit with an available 320-watt sound system with surround sound, while the LINGUATRONIC voice control system operates the car telephone and numerous audio functions by voice commands.
