2004 Geneva Motor Show

Standing out in a show filled with exotica, Maserati got hearts racing with the MC12 -- Maserati Competizione, 12-cylinder supercar. Largely based on the legendary Ferrari Enzo, the long-wheelbase MC12 was developed as a carbon-fiber halo car for the brand, certain to draw attention to the volume cars and provide a robust platform for an international motorsports assault. To be built in Corsa (race model) and Stradale (street model) forms, the MC12 employs a slightly milder version of the 6.0-liter Enzo V-12, producing 624 horsepower with 481 lb-ft of torque. The engine is engaged with a six-speed Cambiocorsa paddle-shifted transmission. The combination is good for a factory-certified 3.8-second 0-60-mph time and 205-mph top speed. To satisfy FIA homologation rules, Maserati will build 25 Stradales in 2004, with another 25 planned for 2005. These micro-volume production cars are not intended to be sold in the United States, though for fantasy purposes, the price translates to about $800,000 apiece.
