A whirlwind tour of the aftermarket industry at the 2004 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show gave aspiring tuner Todd Butterbaugh the know-how and industry connections he needed to create his dream car, revealed at the 2005 Chicago Auto Show as this custom, titanium black Hyundai Tiburon with the sound, looks and performance that all tuners dream of. As the winner of Hyundai's "Tune-Up-A-Tib" online contest, Butterbaugh earned a chance to work with Hyundai and American Products Company to create on a one-of-a-kind show car. Butterbaugh's vision included a truly unique carbon fiber roof scoop, APC carbon fiber hood and rear wing spoiler, 19x8 1⁄2-inch wheels from Ray's Wheels and Toyo Tires. Other modifications include a custom-installed Alpine audio system, Tein suspension, Centerforce clutch and APC racing seats, Alpine Developments supercharger, and Greddy exhaust system for performance. "It was the opportunity of a lifetime," said Butterbaugh. "I've always wondered what went into creating a show car, and after coming up with a creative direction, everything seemed to fall into place. It helps to have the resources of Hyundai and American Products Company working for you, but any tuner can find ways to make their dream vehicle a reality." Butterbaugh was selected by a panel of Hyundai and APC executives from among entrants to the "Tune-Up-A-Tib" contest conducted on Hyundai's tuner site -- www.HyundaiUSA.com/Tuner.
