Fall is upon us again, which means the auto show season is about to start. Although not part of the official show circuit, the Specialty Equipment Market Show, better known to industry insiders as the SEMA Show, plays just as significant a role for automakers and accessory manufacturers alike, often determining a model's success among enthusiasts and even the general buyer.
The collaboration between automakers and the accessory aftermarket has become even closer over the years, with customized vehicles often becoming the inspiration for production models, or even creating new partnerships between automakers and accessory makers. Although the show features vehicles of all types, as usual, trucks and SUVs continue to play a prominent role, with an entire exhibition hall dedicated to the class.
It's still a little early for the public unveiling of the highly anticipated 2014 GM full-size trucks, but you can bet Chrysler will be well represented with the 2013 Ram 1500, and perpetually popular Jeep Wrangler, and Ford will likely be out in force with the updated 2013 F-150.
