2005 SEMA Show - The Rugged Side

Inspired by classic hot rodders and customizers, the White Tech Pearl Mitsubishi Street Raider sports a "shaved" exterior, meaning all protrusions (like the fuel filler door, door handles, and any other pieces that stick out from the body) have been removed and smoothed over. A custom air suspension handles all support duties without sacrificing any of the truck's payload capability. The 22-inch, 7-spoke alloy wheels hold 265/40 tires in front and 305/40 tires in back (both with Brembo brakes), with dual exhaust and color-matched rollpan rounding out the rearend. A unique front grille with black inserts and lowered air dam give the Street Raider an ominous look in any rearview mirror. Although much of the interior is stock, the seats are made from brown and white leather with an Alcantera headliner. Rockford Fosgate handles stereo duties, with a mega-subwoofer located between rear passenger seats. Under the hood, there's not much going on, but we were told there is plenty Mtisubishi could do if they got the go-ahead. And if this concept truck reminds you of the SVT Adrenalin, it should. Dan Sims, general manager of the Mitsubishi design center, thinks there's plenty of room in the sport truck arena, especially when starting with a midsize V-8 pickup truck platform, for more vehicles to compete with the Adrenalin and maybe the Colorado SS. If Raider sales beat Mitsubishi projections, they may have to come out with a few "special models" to keep fans interested until the next redesigned Raider is due.
