2005 SEMA Show - The Rugged Side

Ford developed its "General Contractor" concept to showcase the ultimate office environment for the contractor on the go. Based on the F-250 Super-Duty, it features GPS, wireless broadband, printer, and a digital-camera-equipped mobile computer to allow a contractor to bid jobs, order parts, and purchase parts, materials, and payments while on location in their truck. This mobile office system is in development as a possible future dealer-installed accessory through Ford in 2006. The Stargate mobile computer uses a touchscreen mounted on the transmission tunnel within easy reach of the driver, or it can be easily removed for use as an ordinary laptop, and offers full Windows XP functionality including Outlook for email, Streets and Trips 2006 for real-time navigation, and Internet Explorer for Web browsing. The truck itself benefits from a Fabtech 6-inch suspension lift kit, aggressive Weld wheels with BF Goodrich tires, and a bed packed with a traveling shop full of everything a contractor would need to get the job done right.
