The Skoda Yeti compact crossover is due to go on sale September 17, in the UK, and prices are expected to start at 13,725 GBP, or about $22,600 U.S. according to today's exchange rates. Skoda boasts its newest crossover offers unparalleled capability and technologies for its class, available in four trims with either front- or four-wheel drive with five engine selections.
Powertrain choices include two gas and three diesel engines; the gassers of choice are the base 1.2-liter with 103 horsepower and a 1.8-liter with 158 horsepower, which is mated to the four-wheel drive system. Diesel engines include a 2.0-liter with 108 horsepower (front- or four-wheel drive), a 2.0-liter with 139 horsepower (4x4), and the topline 167-horsepower 2.0-liter diesel (4x4).
Standard features include Varioflex seating and a fourth-generation Haldex clutch on four-wheel drive models. Additional options include park assist, a panoramic sunroof, an off-road mode with activation button, and a touch screen display with Bluetooth. Six airbags and five-star EuroNCAP ratings ensure occupants remain protected.
Unfortunately, the Yeti will remain hidden from the U.S. for the time being, similar to its cryptic namesake whose existence remains scientifically challenged.
