2013 BMW X1
It's official. We're getting the X1 in the U.S. And for once, we're getting a model the Europeans aren't. Namely, the X1 xDrive35i, which packs BMW's turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. BMW's N20 2.0-liter turbo four with 240 hp and 260 lb-ft is the base engine in the rear-drive sDrive28i and all-wheel-drive xDrive28i.
Smaller than the X3 by a few inches in each dimension, the X1 is importantly substantially smaller at the bottom line, starting at a surprisingly competitive $31,545 for the rear-drive model, $33,245 for the all-wheel-drive four-cylinder, and $39,345 for the hot-shot xDrive35i six-cylinder. The X1 is built at BMW's Leipzig, Germany factory, and will go on-sale in the U.S. in the fall.
