2013 Ram 1500
The Ram 1500 gets an extensive makeover for the 2013 model year, beginning with the expected availability of the Pentastar V-6 as the base engine. In the Ram, it produces 305 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. But even bigger news is the availability of an eight-speed TorqueFlite 8 automatic transmission, standard on the Pentastar, and available later with the Hemi V-8. The Hemi gets a 5 hp bump to 395 hp. Models equipped with the TorqueFlite 8 also get a rotary-knob shifter, replacing both the column shifter and console shifter on models so equipped.
Other noteworthy changes are an optional five-position air suspension, electric power steering, a new frame employing hydroforming and increased use of high-strength steel, a central locking function for the optional RamBox and tailgate, improved interior materials, a next-generation Uconnect Access system with smartphone app integration, a new Powernet electrical system, and the availability of a longer 6-ft 4-in bed on the Crew Cab model.
