Not to be overshadowed by the bigger names in the Japanese automotive market, Toyota-owned Daihatsu has released a few details on its four highlighted concept cars heading to the biennial 2009 Tokyo Motor Show. Under the slogan "Innovation for Tomorrow," designers implemented three philosophies into the vehicles: eco, lifestyle, and fun.

As fuel-efficient urban cars are fast becoming more important as of late. One of the more futuristic concepts Daihatsu is bringing to Tokyo is the Deca Deca "super box." Its low floor eases ingress and egress as well as cargo loading into the expansive interior. The pillar-less side-by-side doors open the Deca Deca up further for access to the folding slim seats. Designers gave tall boxy ride extra large windows to add to the feeling of spaciousness.

Addressing the fun factor is the Basket (green car), an open-top compact people mover that is said to emphasize the slower pace of life. The four-seater utilizes a hard top to cover the front passengers and a canvas soft-top for the rear.

A total of four vehicle series and nine production models will be showed at Daihatsu's display, so stay tuned for more once our Tokyo show coverage gets under way.
