Ford debuted the 2013 Ford Flex today at the L.A. Auto Show. While still boxy as ever, the 2013 Flex certainly has much more presense than the outgoing model.
The reworked 2013 Flex sports a much more aggressive nose than the comparably plain and safe old model. The new single chrome-bar grille, which looks sort-of like a nose ring when viewed dead-on, does much to give the Flex a presence it just didn't have before. The 2013 Flex also sports new headlights up front, "Flex" badging on the nose (similar to the old Flex Titanium), and a nipped and tucked rear end.
Also updated on the 2013 Flex is its base 3.5-liter V-6 engine. Power rises from 262 hp and 248 lb-ft of torque, to a healthy 285 hp and 253 lb-ft of torque. Ford says the power boost doesn't come at the cost of fuel economy, and that the Flex will actually gain at least 1 mpg all-around. The Flex also sports new tech and safety improvements including MyFord Touch 2.0, and the seatbelt airbags from the 2012 Ford Explorer.
The Flex is slated to hit dealerships in the spring.
