We recently spent some time at a DHRA (Diesel Hot Rod Association) event in Las Vegas and spent just as much time in the parking lot talking to guys about their trucks and race rigs as we did in the grandstands.
Qualifying day is the most fun, as you get all the family members and friends around to see who will hit their times. The races are broken into five classes, where everyone from the guy off the street with his brand new truck, to the guy with the heavily modified race truck can make a run down the quarter-mile track. And if that isn't exciting enough for you, there's sled pulling, a show-n-shine, a monster burnout contest, as well as a dyno competition, with tons of prizes available for each.
