Event Coverage: 4Wheel Part's Truck & Jeep Fest 2008

The traveling mini mall of every trucker's dreams

By Veronica Kibbee

Truck lovers, unite! 4Wheel Part's Truck & Jeep Fest made a stop at Market Hall in Dallas, Texas, May 17-18. Just a quick look around the parking lot lets you know you're in the right place, as it was chock-full of lifted trucks, jeeps, and other custom off-road vehicles.

As soon as you stepped through the door, you were handed a bright-yellow goodie bag and welcomed by a 4Wheel Parts associate. You were then free to roam around an off-road enthusiast's paradise. The building was lined with vendors, who brought products, brochures, freebies, and, of course, trucks and jeeps. Spectators were treated to product demonstrations as well as expert advice straight from the vendors. The booths offered on-site inventory, which equated to huge savings for the consumer. A few of the companies present at the event included Fabtech, K&N, Rancho, Pro Comp, Magnaflow, Smittybuilt, N-Fab,4 wheel drive warehouse, Yamaha, Daystar, KMC wheels and many more.

My first stop was at the K&N booth. The reps were prompt and helpful, and I ended up purchasing a filter for our Tacoma and Mustang. The price was too good to pass up. This was not my first time taking advantage of promotional pricing at this event. Last year, I was able to pick up a set of BFGoodrich mud terrain tires for an unbelievable price.

Some of the unheard of deals I saw while walking around the expo included a free Bilstein shock upgrade with a Pro Comp lift purchase, $60 off a set of four BFG tires, and buy-three-get-one-free pro-comp tires. They were also offering up to 50 percent off installations. It was hard to keep up with all the amazing discounts. These great offers were only good for the expo, so if you didn't take advantage, you definitely missed out.

A few of the local dealerships had some brand-new trucks off the lot, illustrating how awesome the aftermarket products from the show vendors would look. If only all trucks that came from the factory looked this good. Toyota was on-site giving away hats, stickers, DVDs, and also photographing spectators in front of the new FJ Cruiser. They also gave everyone the opportunity to sit in the vehicles and get a feel for the Cruiser.

Deep discounts, vendors, sweet displays, awesome off-road vehicles, giveaways, and free admission -- what's not to like? The tour continues through the end of August, so be sure to check it out at a venue near you.
