The Bald Mountain OHV route gets restored while the new HUMMER H3T gets launched on its home turf
On August 1, the Bald Mountain OHV route in the Sierra National Forest near Fresno, California, was restored with the help of volunteers from HUMMER, local four-wheel-drive clubs, the nonprofit off-road ethics organization Tread Lightly!, and U.S. Forest Service employees. The volunteers and employees got the opportunity to work on a section of the trail that is subject to erosion during the spring snow thaw and summer storms. While the main road was tended to and repaired, additional unauthorized roads were cleared and closed. The roads branched off the main route, but it's important that they remained closed so as not to encourage off-roading in non-designated areas. The project finished with the development of a trial map and brochure to ensure that visitors stay on the authorized routes.
Held in conjunction with the restoration project was HUMMER's launch of their 2009 H3T, a pickup truck based off the HUMMER H3. The launch was a great success, which featured a full off-road test drive session of the new truck, and the H3T is due for a September 2008 release.
