Round four of the 2010 Valley Off-Road Racing Assocation season was held on rugged 250-mile course specially designed by veteran racer Rod Hall.

Hall, a Northern Nevada local, crafted a sixty-mile loop in the Sierra Nevada Mountains east of Reno and dispatched two vehicles from the Rod Hall Racing team to complete four laps of the torturous event. Emily Miller partook with the Class 7 Hummer H3, accompanied by co-drivers Damien Michelin and Rob Henderson. After losing a brake line and braking power early on the third lap, the H3 had to be repaired for safety reasons. After resuming with full stopping power, Miller and team placed second in the class with a two-second gap from the leader.

Hall put his experience and luck in a 1970 422 Oldsmobile formerly owned and raced by actor James Garner. Competing in the Sportsman class, the 442ci Olds had to replace an alternator mid-race and ended up in the 14th position for his class. Along the 250-mile event, Hall took members of the media and sponsors in the passenger seat for the off-road ride.

But let's not forget the overall winner. Chuck Dempsey from Class 1 took first place while Miller and Hall were classified 21st and 88th overall, respectively.

The next VORRA event is a desert night race scheduled for July 16-18 in Fallon, Nevada.
