When Israel Diaz of Pasadena, Texas, bought this Caddy-clipped '99 Chevy Silverado, it was absolutely totaled. He says he bought it at an auction for $3,000 with severe front-end damage with the intention of building it as a business card for his newly opened body shop, Diaz Custom Auto. So he was forced to clip it one way or another. The first time around, he opted for a GMC clip, but it just didn't have the punch he wanted. The second time, he went with the Caddy clip, and it clicked.
Since the goal was to show off his shop's abilities, Israel went wild, but not loud, on the paint and body. In addition to the clip job, he shaved the tailgate, did a smooth install on the roll pan, fitted C3 taillights, and smoothed and painted the SnugTop tonneau cover. After that, he painted the truck and the interior with House of Kolor's Raspberry Pearl and had Nuclear Design put the airbrush to work for some intricate pinstriping.
The interior is one of the truck's strong suits. The exterior color is used extensively inside to highlight the gray leather with ostrich inserts and occasional accents. And, of course, a bad, bumping audio system turns up the volume.
The system starts with a Clarion head unit with integrated monitor. An Acoustic 900 drives 900 watts through the Pioneer coaxial mids and tweets mounted in the stock locations, while a pair of Memphis 1000D amps puts 1,000 watts each to the 15-inch Kicker L7 Solobarics in the huge sub box and amp rack built into the rear passenger compartment. Lighting Audio 5-farad capacitors reinforce the sub bass.
Yeah, the truck's clean. The owner did it right, right down to the 4/6-inch drop. It's got attitude and style that say it's all business.
