Wow, I almost never thought we'd get this far with the Nissan Frontier we received from Sport Truck magazine to build almost two years ago. To think that what we started with was a sky-high pickup! When you compare it to the truck we photographed for this month's cover, it's truly mind-blowing. The road to making the Nissan show-worthy and looking like it does today involved months of planning and hundreds of hours of work that involved more than a dozen companies.
Looking back on the buildup process, we have a lot of people and companies to thank, without which we couldn't have accomplished building the truck. Likewise, we've made many friendships and strengthened so many bonds with our readers just from working on the Frontier. The shops we worked with in building Project Desert Dragger were absolutely invaluable in getting MT to where it is today. We learned a lot, and took a lot of chances along the way to create a truck that Nissan never thought to build.
For the sake of tripping down memory lane, here are a few outtakes from our Nissan's buildup process from past issues. For the full story, please see our cover feature beginning on page 48 of this issue. Everything that went into building Project Desert Dragger can be gleaned from pouring over the feature, and anyone who had a hand in the buildup can be contacted using the information listed in the source box.
