Readers' Custom Trucks - Readers' Rides - July 2005
Twisted StylzChris Carton of Warren, Vermont, is the proud owner of this '96 Dodge Dakota. Chris 'bagged his truck with Firestone 'bags and added an MIC four-wheel control super-block with Hi-Flow switches. Chris also worked on upgrading the exterior by shaving the door handles and brake lights, and removing all emblems. The truck's paint job was enhanced with a flame-red theme. Chris' plans include remodeling the interior and upgrading his sound system.
S-10 With GraceIn the streets of Derby, Kansas, a '97 Chevy S-10 roams around with its proud owner Cheston Jones. Cheston is a college student who will do anything to work on his truck and upgrade it to look even better-even if it leaves him in debt. Cheston modified the interior by shaving the tailgate handle, adding a bedcover, and installing Altezza taillights and clear corner lights. For a better ride, he added 20-inch ECO wheels with Wan Li rubber. After paying off his debt, he would like o add a custom chassis and upgrade the wheels to 22s.
Clear WaterThis '01 Chevy Silverado belongs to Walter Castillo, a native of Mandeville, Louisiana. Walter tells us that he first added a Stull billet grille and a K&N Fuel Injection Performance Kit. Then came those Phantom 18-inch wheels with Falken rubber and a Checkmate tonneau. For super sound, he installed a Sony stereo and amps with Bazooka 8-inch bass tubes. In the future, Walter hopes to nstall a suspension drop and a supercharger.
SimplicityMichael Cooney began his project by purchasing an '02 Chevy Silverado. Ontario, Canada, is where it all started for Michael; he began to give his truck a change but insisted on keeping it nice and simple. A stainless steel insert was added to the front along with a set of blackouts. For rear enhancement, he added Euro taillights, and for performance, a K&N air filter was installed. The truck rolls on 20-inch Boss wheels, wrapped in Goodyear Eagle rubber.
Blazin'This '03 Chevy S-10 Blazer roams the streets of Carrollton, Georgia, driven by its proud owner, Daniel Rooks. Its power comes from beneath, with 190 hp, and a custom exhaust. Daniel installed APC clear turn signals, Altezza clear taillights, and a billet Bow Tie. For sound quality, Daniel installed a Kenwood KDC-3022 head unit. His plans are to add a custom floor to the interior, along with seat covers and new sound system.
Editor's Note: Getting your truck into Readers' Rides is a snap--of the camera, that is. All it takes is a couple of good-quality photos of your ride that are in focus and well-lit. Due to the volume of mail we receive, we regret that we cannot return photographs. Please shoot and send photos of your truck only (no people, pets, Polaroids, or printouts) to: Truckin' Magazine, Readers' Rides, 2400 E. Katella Ave., Ste. 700, Anaheim, CA 92806. It is important that you include a detailed description of the modifications you have made to your truck, including any interesting stories behind it. This can include information about the buildup or any special history the truck has.
