Readers' Custom Trucks - Readers' Rides - October 2005
SpectreDarren Pellecchia of Cedar Park, Texas, is the proud owner of this '02 Ford Lightning. Although this truck was originally supposed to be a daily driver, Darren's wife encouraged him to modify it into a show truck. Darren first installed the power adders before coming up with different paint ideas. The truck, so far, has seen a lot of show success. Future modifications will include upgrading the interior, lowering the rear 2 inches, and completing the painting of the dash.
Big H Persuasion. This '04 Hummer is the daily driver of proud owner Rikki Carrasco. Rikki roams his neighborhood with this Hummer on 25-inch Giovanna wheels. His friends and family are entertained with three DVD players. Rikki hopes to continue modifying his Hummer by upgrading the interior and installing some more entertainment systems.
Slammin' S-10Jeremy Lauf of Columbia, Illinois, is the owner of this '02 Chevy S-10. Soon after the truck was purchased, Jeremy decided to turn it into a sport truck. The truck was dropped, and Street Scene bumpers, mirrors, and grille inserts modified the exterior. The truck rolls on 18-inch Boyd Timeless wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich g-Force rubber. Changing the stock seats to Recaro buckets with five-point harnesses added some good looks to the interior, to go along with the smoothed and painted door panels.
Wild SideIn the city of Mt. Vernon, Indiana, Jason Buchanan found and purchased his '05 Ford F-350 crew cab with a six-speed, Power Stroke Diesel. He began his modifications by installing BFGoodrich Mud Terrains along with a 2-1/2-inch leveling kit. In the future, Jason hopes to install a 10-inch suspension lift with 20-inch wheels and 40-inch tires.
Green LoveJimmy Love of Homestead, Florida, is the owner of this '02 Chevy Tahoe. The 5.3L V-8 has been upgraded with a K&N polished intake and air filter to help it breathe easier, along with a Flowmaster dual exhaust. For sound, Jimmy installed a Kenwood system, and for viewing entertainment, he added a Kenwood touch-screen TV with DVD player. In the future, Jimmy wants to add a mass airflow sensor, a throttle-body spacer, and 26-inch wheels.
Chevy RebuilderDavid Merrill from Muskogee, Oklahoma, rebuilt this '01 Chevy Silverado to his style. The truck was dropped and had a dual Flowmaster exhaust and K&N air filter installed. Soon after, 20-inch Karate Diamo wheels were added along with euro lights in the front and back. For sound and entertainment, a 7-1/2-inch screen with Kenwood speakers was included.
Editor's Note: Getting your truck into Readers' Rides is a snap-of the camera, that is. All it takes is a couple of good-quality photos of your ride that are in focus and well-lit. Due to the volume of mail we receive, we regret that we cannot return photographs. Please shoot and send photos of your truck only (no people, pets, Polaroids, or printouts) to: Truckin' Magazine, Readers' Rides, 2400 E. Katella Ave., Ste. 700, Anaheim, CA 92806. It is important that you include a detailed description of the modifications you have made to your truck, including any interesting stories behind it. This can include information about the buildup or any special history the truck has.
