Reader's Custom Trucks - Reader's Rides - November 2005
Editor's Note: Getting your truck into Readers' Rides is a snap-of the camera, that is. All it takes is a couple of good-quality photos of your ride that are in focus and well-lit. Due to the volume of mail we receive, we regret that we cannot return photographs. Please shoot and send photos of your truck only (no people, pets, Polaroids, or printouts) to: Truckin' Magazine, Readers' Rides, 2400 E. Katella Ave., Ste. 700, Anaheim, CA 92806. It is important that you include a detailed description of the modifications you have made to your truck, including any interesting stories behind it. This can include information about the buildup or any special history the truck has.
St. John's S-10This '97 Chevy S-10 belongs to Jeremy Hoover of St. Johns, Michigan. Jeremy dropped his truck 2 inches in the front and 4 in the rear. He then added Aluma Star wheels with Mickey Thompson ET tires in the front and ET Streets out back. He changed the steering wheel to a Billet Revolver model along with Billet pedals to modify the interior. Jeremy hopes to continue tricking out his truck and introducing it at a future show.
Limited FordArnold Paradeza of Pearl City, Hawaii, is the proud owner of this '02 Ford Explorer. After trading in his other Explorer for this new one, he began modifying it by adding a single-in, dual-out Borla exhaust. Next, were 20-inch Foose Type-S wheels installed along with a 2-inch drop using Ground Force springs. For sound and entertainment, an Eclipse system was installed including DVD and MP3 players and Eclipse speakers. Also, 5-1/2-inch monitors were installed so passengers can enjoy movies.
Speed Of LightningThis '03 Ford Lightning belongs to Frank Krapf of Hollywood, Florida. Frank began his work by lowering the truck 2 inches in the rear. He then changed the look of his interior by changing the seat covers to Wet-Okole seat covers and added carbon-fiber pieces and Bullz Ballz on the receiver. In the future, Frank plans on adding a Predator programmer, upper and lower pulleys, and a Speed grille in the front.
Hemi PowerHaltom, Texas, is the place where Richard Howington proudly drives this '03 Dodge. Richard first began upgrading his truck soon after he bought it from the dealership. A sport package with side impact airbags was installed. The truck was then lowered with a 2/4 DJM kit. A Kenwood head unit with a 10-disc CD changer was installed for sound. The truck rolls on 18-inch Enkie Valor chrome wheels and breathes out of a K&N air filter.
DissidentBeing a nonconformist is what drives Joel Cook of Sumter, South Carolina, to keep fixing and changing his truck. Being in the Air Force takes a lot of Joel's time, but he still manages to work on his truck. Joel installed 18-inch American Racing wheels with Khumo rubber and dropped his truck 3 inches in the front and 5 inches in the rear. An aftermarket chrome grille, diamond-cut turn signals, and Euro taillights were some exterior upgrades. As for the interior, blue lighting, a Sirius tuner, and a Kenwood KDC-MP825 head unit were installed. Joel hopes to show off his truck in upcoming shows near him, including the NOPI Nationals.
St. BeeFrank Ramos of Seattle went to the dealership not knowing exactly what he was going to come out with, but he ended up purchasing this '04 Dodge Ram. He began changing his truck by modifying the interior's stock seats and then changing the exterior by installing a custom hood. A dual Flowmaster exhaust along with an AEM intake was added for extra rumble. For performance, Frank added a Jet Performance chip, and for more growl under the hood, some JBA headers.
