Readers' Custom Trucks - Readers' Rides - January 2006
Childhood DreamPaul Webb of Topsham, Maine, was a child, he always dreamed of having his own project truck to modify. He owns this '03 Dodge Dakota with a Cervini's Sniper Kit and 20-inch BZO Big Boss wheels along with a Erebuni Carbon Fiber ram-air hood and Rhino lining for the bed. The truck has been lowered 3 inches in the front and 4 inches in the back. The interior was modified with a new center console, and the door panels and dash were tailored to match the exterior of the truck. For extra sound, a Kicker amp was installed.
Night CrawlThis '04 Chevy Silverado belongs to Chris Wolfe of West Hills, California. Chris tells us that his truck has been in several shows including the Truck Jam. With a 4/6 drop, a flip kit, and a Borla exhaust, the truck rides on 22-inch wheels and carries a SnugTop over the bed. For a roar, the truck has a True Flow air intake, and for chrome, look in the front where a billet chrome grille was installed.
Searing BlazerDoug Craig of Shorewood, Illinois, owns this '04 Chevy Extreme Blazer. Doug tells us that he's been working on his truck since he first set eyes on it. With so many innovative ideas on upgrading his truck, he didn't know where to begin. First installed were 20-inch Kane wheels wrapped NITTO rubber along with a 4-inch drop kit and carbon-fiber taillights. To entertain passengers, he installed a Kenwood 6-inch screen along with an audio system. Future plans include a change of paintjob, a shaved body, and a custom interior.
Predatory HarleyGreg King of Marina, California, is the proud owner of this '03 Ford F-150 Harley-Davidson Edition. Greg installed a T-Rex polished grille bumper inserts along with mirror accents and clear taillights. The truck rides on 22-inch DaVinci Pasha wheels wrapped in Toyo Proxes and with a K&N air filter for roar.
Far LandGraham Howat of Madoc, Ontario, Canada was honored when his father passed this '82 GMC onto him. For Graham, this truck was more than just a project truck; he wanted to fix it up enough for it to be able to ride in, but without changing the touches his father added to it. The power under the hood comes from a 350ci and an Edlebrock intake. The truck also received a 3/4-inch drop and a billet grille.
Ol' SierraThis '83 GMC Sierra still rides strong for its new owner Jonathan Gray of Leighton, Alabama. With its stock 350ci still under the hood for power, the upgrades that Jonathan had done have focused on keeping his truck stylish. The truck rides on 20-inch Panther Rogue wheels wrapped in Goodyear rubber and features a front Phantom grille. For sound, an Alpine audio system was installed along with Q-Logic kick panels.
