Billy Allen was a custom truck enthusiast, a truck builder whose passion was slammed trucks. Unfortunately, there is a reason why we are speaking in the past tense. After walking around this silver-clad truck in amazement over the detail and clean lines, we approached Carlos about taking a few snap shots to throw in your favorite mag. After chatting with Carlos, we found out that Billy was the person most responsible for building this C10, and Carlos had saved this awesome truck from who-knows-what.
It turns out that Billy had only driven this truck a handful of times, since it was painted and the interior somewhat put back together. Apparently, a couple spins around the block were enough, and he sold it to one of his friends, Carlos Lockany. Carlos watched this truck develop over time, as Billy got the body cleaned up by shaving off all of the unneeded fixtures and blocking the truck to perfection. Right after painting the truck, Billy decided to go on a different path in the form of an Impala SS. We know what you're saying, "Wow, how do you go from a sick 'bagged and body-dropped ride to an Impala?" We don't know. Only God and Billy have that answer.
What Carlos told us is that he wanted this truck for a long time and didn't want to see it collecting dust with no hope of it ever getting done. Since there was a lot of work still left to finish the truck and bring it to the level of show winner, there was no shame in him picking it up. We would've been heartbroken ourselves if someone didn't take the extra steps to make sure that this truck got its moment of fame.
With the body and paint in great shape, Carlos concentrated on the mechanical aspects. He dropped in a 350ci crate motor and topped it with Vortec heads, a Holley carb, and a Flowmaster exhaust. Also added were a Turbo 400 with a shift-improvement kit and a stall converter. A new 3.73 limited slip for the rearend was installed to help keep the new power where it's needed most...on the ground.
Leather and suede greets passengers inside the cabin, covering everything from the '87 Nissan Hardbody seats to the door panels (all the way to the glass), and even the headliner and dashpad. The dash has plenty of class with updated Pro Comp gauges and a Billet Specialties steering wheel. And there's an Alpine head unit and JL Audio stereo gear mounted into a custom-made enclosure behind the bucket seats to provide sounds. Although Carlos has made it to that elusive finished state, he still has several mods he'd like to make to the Chevy, but they'll have to wait. Right now, he's having too much fun cruisin' the rig to think about wrenchin' on it.
