Mastering the water-sports market would seem like a daunting task for most boat companies, but MasterCraft seems to be doing something right. With a strong lineup of boats to do everything from fishing to wakeboarding and waterskiing, it appears that MasterCraft is the company to beat. Making a strong show presence, MasterCraft worked alongside GM and Vortec engines to put together a show-stopping custom truck and boat to draw customers from far and wide. What managed to transpire was magic.
Photo 3/13   |   Stretched nearly two additional feet, this Chevrolet 2500 HD has the right stance and look, thanks to many well-known aftermarket suppliers. A seven-passenger capability with a bed makes the need for an SUV obsolete.
Beginning with an '06 Chevrolet Silverado Crew Cab 4x4, the decision was made to stretch the truck for additional interior room and passenger carrying capacity. A journey to Alton Truck Manufacturing in Pigeon, Michigan, was decided upon for 22 inches of stretch. Having nearly 2 extra feet behind the cab was just the right dimension to add a Chevrolet Extra Cab door and an interior seat to match. The doors function in a suicide fashion-as per the factory specifications-and the added seat brings three more team riders, friends, or models to the table. Managing the extra length is a GM Delphi Quadrasteer system. Innovative Automotive Group in Scottsdale, Arizona, took the reins from there and gave the Bow Tie a slight lift, which gave the truck more of a burly stance and added curb appeal. Under the truck is a Pro Comp 6-inch suspension lift fit with triple front and single rear shocks that make room for 325/60R20 Nitto Terra Grappler tires and 20-inch Raceline forged wheels. Pumping up the power to the LBZ 6.6L turbodiesel that rolls this stretched rig down the road is a Banks Six-Gun diesel tuner, Monster exhaust, and Ram Air Intake system. The 2500 HD comes dressed for any occasion , thanks to a polished Precision billet grille, KC HiLiTES lights and Lite Bar, and custom billet IAG door handles. The factory coloring wasn't cutting it, so the truck was repainted, changing the color from pewter to jet black before Universal Products from Wichita, Kansas, laid down the killer graphic treatment that swoops around the big Chevy and shows off the truck's sponsorship logos.

Inside, the creature comforts got a shot in the arm, thanks to all of the seating surfaces being replaced with GM Denali two-tone leather. Each seat's headrest holds a Vizualogic monitor so everybody has a view, no matter where they sit. A flip-face Clarion head unit folds from the dash and controls the sound and pounding emanating from the cabin. Rockford Fosgate separates and coaxial speakers can be found in all six doors with amplifiers under and subs behind the rear seat. IAG went a couple of steps farther and added its own billet inner door handles, as well as billet emergency, brake, and gas pedals. A Banks A-pillar pod holds extra gauges to monitor the pumped-up diesel plant.

Matching the truck, thanks to Universal Products, is the 24-foot MasterCraft X-45. It is powered by a 385hp version of GM's 6.0L LQ9 engine, which makes the X-45 just the ticket for dragging your friends around for some watery fun in the sun. MasterCraft makes all of its own billet aluminum trim in-house and this X has it all. Killer vents and trim pieces are all around, including all of the cool speaker covers, and even the speaker housings hanging from the wakeboard tower.

Speaking of speakers, this boat belongs to MasterCraft President Scott Crutchfield, who reached deep into the list of options and pulled out a Clarion head unit with Sirius satellite radio heading up the all-JL amplifier and speaker brigade to blast his favorite liquid tunes. Talk about options, this boat was fitted with the X-Pod dash stuffed with neat, red Borg-Warner gauges and aircraft-style switches. Even heated seats were installed to make those chilly morning runs more comfortable, and they also help to extend the available water season. Once back at the launch ramp, the X-45 rides in style safely on a custom MasterCraft trailer built with double-torsion axles, disc brakes, and a swing-away tongue. It sounds like just the ticket to us.

MasterCraft boats and GM have been in a working relationship like no other. Together, the complementing teams have been dominating both on and off the water. With the summer boating season in full swing, you'll be seeing more from these two companies at a waterway near you. It won't be hard to find where the two companies will be next.
