2007 Ford Expedition EL - Camo Cruiser
Size: Extra Large
ATS is known for its side steps, running boards, and billet grilles. So, when it got its hands on one of the first '07 Ford Expedition ELs, the crew went to work prototyping all sorts of accessories for it. By the time the crew was done measuring and fitting all of the ATS products, they had grown fond of their extra-large cruiser and decided that it had to stick around to show off ATS's latest products.
While a plain-Jane Expedition would make the ATS pieces stand out, the goal was to create a full package, using ATS to complement the overall look-not to dominate it. Working in-house, the crew at ATS fabricated a body lift to clear 33x12.5-inch Toyo Open Country M/T tires on 20-inch Weld Velociti 8 wheels. The additional step-in height necessitated billet running boards, also from ATS. Keeping with the billet theme, ATS built a matching luggage rack and ATS grille guard, both with Hella lights, which were bolted in up front and on top.
The interior of the Expedition is comfortable in factory trim, but two-tone leather upholstery from Skyline makes the seats comfortable, as well as easy on the eyes. A Sony NV-U70 portable navigation unit docks in the center console, and allows the XAV-C1 head unit and 7-inch monitor to focus on its DVD and audio capability. The head unit also controls the two XS-12LS 12-inch subs that are mounted in the rear of the EL, right in front of the two Xplod amps in their custom enclosure, built by Advance Audio.
Kelly and Son Crazy Painters gave the Expedition its urban-camo paintjob by using several metallic shades of House of Kolor paint. The finished look makes the Expedition right at home in any city setting, but wasn't quite effective at making the Ford disappear at National Ready Mixed Concrete in Cerritos, California, where the Expedition posed for the photo shoot.
