Reader's Custom Trucks - Reader's Rides - December 2007
In less than a year's time, David LaManno transformed his stock '04 Silverado into a tire-shredding sport truck. The engine puts out 475 hp, thanks to a Magnuson intercooled supercharger, a MagnaFlow exhaust, and JBA plug wires. A transmission shift kit and billet Corvette servos from the Toy Shop, combined with 4.10 gears, and an Auburn limited-slip make sure the power gets to the 24-inch U2 wheels and 305-series Hankook tires. ZD Motor Sports covered the body, Street Scene SS bumper cover, Goodmark cowl-induction hood, and a Sir Michael's roll pan in blue paint, and smoked the headlights blue for good measure. Inside the truck, Katzkin seats match the paint, while a Pioneer D2 navigation head unit leads the audio charge with JL Audio subs, Rockford Fosgate amps, and Focal Audio separates throughout the cab. With all of the go-fast goodies he has, David is now looking at upping the ante with a brake upgrade.
Joey Daleo from Hacienda Heights, California, sent us photos of his daily driver. It's an '03 Avalanche that rides on a Pro Comp lift, 35-inch Pro Comp tires, and 17-inch Moto Metal wheels. Even before the lift was installed, Joey installed a Kenwood DDX-6019 head unit, JL Audio midgate Stealthbox with two 12-inch subs, and a JL 500/1 amp. Underneath the hood, an Advance Flow Engineering (aFe) cold-air intake, a Gibson exhaust, and 4.56 gears help the 5.3L V-8, along with a Superchips power programmer.
Curtis, a faithful reader from north of the border, bought this '07 Dodge Mega Cab for work. Since the Ram's big body looks silly with small wheels, the first addition was a set of 22s. Next, a Pro Comp 5-inch lift and 35-inch tires were bolted on. A K&N intake and Superchips tune helped turn the extra rubber. Curtis' son Brandon is showing off the new look.
Wayne Brown's '04 Suburban keeps things clean and simple. A 2/3 drop and 24-inch wheels take care of the ride, and a Flowmaster exhaust and K&N intake help with some additional power. Up front, clear corners and a billet grille keep the front uncluttered. Since they liked the results of the additions so much, his wife's truck is next.
Brian Edmunds from Loretta, Wisconsin, painted his '92 S-10 with House of Kolor paint and color-shifting flakes. A 2/3 drop kit, a Godfather Customs ground effect kit, and Moto Metal wheels give it its stance. Other body mods include a cowl-induction hood, a tonneau cover with touring wing, and sport mirrors.
To get your truck featured in Readers' Rides, e-mail a high-resolution photo of your truck to firstname.lastname@example.org. Send in a front 3/4 or profile shot, and make sure it's big enough. We print at a much higher resolution than a website, which means that sending links to photos posted online won't necessarily work. Also, be sure to include plenty of information about you and your truck. If you want to get your ride noticed by posting it on our newest community feature, Truckin' Readers' Rides Online, go to rides.truckinweb.com. Upload as many as 20 photos of your vehicle, along with detailed descriptions.
